Naval Station Norfolk
In celebration of Fleet Week Hampton Roads and the Navy’s 239th Birthday, Naval Station Norfolk will host Fleet Fest from 9 am – 4 pm, Saturday, October 18, 2014.
The event is free and open to the public and includes ship tours, static displays, live entertainment, a car show and a chili cook-off.
Tours for Fleet Fest include the aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), guided missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) and guided-missile destroyer, USS Gonzalez (DDG 66). The ships will be open for public visitation from 10 am – 3 pm.
New this year, U.S. Fleet Forces Command will host a birthday concert featuring the U.S. Fleet Forces Band aboard the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. The concert will begin immediately following the ship tours.
Please note the following:
All bags will be briefly inspected as you come through entry points and individuals are subject to search. To keep delays to a minimum, remember that the following items are prohibited:
- Ice chests or coolers
- Large bags (bags larger than a small purse or fanny pack), duffle bags, briefcases, large camera bags.
- All weapons (regardless of permit) including: firearms, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), walking sticks (except for handicap use), and all other items that the security force deems dangerous. Confiscated items will not be returned.
- Pets (other than service animals).
- Glass containers.
- Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades or skateboards.
