John Fullbright headlines Sea Level 2016

John Fullbright, the Grammy nominated performer and winner of the ASCAP’s Harold Adamson Award for lyric writing will headline the 2016 Sea Level Singer / Songwriter Festival in Norfolk.

Fullbright will perform Saturday, April 2 at 8:00pm at the TCC Roper Performing Arts Center, downtown.

The Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival is a multi-day celebration of live, original music that features concerts, workshops, showcases and amazing original material by the region’s most talented performers. Sea Level also has workshops geared specially for the military with a musical story to tell.

Now in its 9th year, Sea Level is the ONLY Singer/Songwriter Festival in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Festival is also the largest annual fundraiser for Tidewater Arts Outreach. The eclectic, popular, well-visited neighborhoods of Ghent and downtown Norfolk create a backdrop of restaurants, shops and burgeoning nightlife for a weekend of music.

About John Fullbright
Fullbright got his start at the legendary Blue Door listening room in Oklahoma City, where he recorded a live album and found his base, opening for many other writers including fellow Oklahomans Kevin Welch and Jimmy Webb. His 2012 studio debut, From the Ground Up, received a Grammy nomination for Americana Album of the Year, which placed Fullbright alongside some of the genre’s most iconic figures, including Bonnie Raitt.

Later that year he won. The Los Angeles Times called the record “preternaturally self-assured,” while NPR hailed him as one of the 10 Artists You Should Have Known in 2012, saying “it’s not every day a new artist…earns comparisons to great songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Randy Newman, but Fullbright’s music makes sense in such lofty company.” The Wall Street Journal crowned him as giving one of the year’s 10 best live performances.

In 2014, Fullbright released the critically acclaimed album Songs, toured across America and the United Kingdom, and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman.
