The NEON Festival: Dawn of the NEON
Thursday, October 15, 2015 (5:00 - 10:00pm)
Friday, October 16, 2015 (5:00 - 10:00pm)
NEON (New Energy of Norfolk) will host a two-night festival, featuring public art installations, murals, live music and pop up cultural performances.
The NEON Festival is a celebration of energy and light in the NEON, Norfolk’s Arts District. To see where the murals and art displays are click on this interactive map.
During the evenings of October 15 and 16, local and national artists, performers and musicians will showcase their talents at pop-up venues. Wander through neighborhood streets during the festival to discover tiny art happenings, large gateway murals and pops of neon color and light. Running from Granby Street to the Chrysler Museum, pop-up and concert stages along with artwork and food trucks will help with what is being called the christening of the city's Arts District.
The festival starts with Third Thursday at the Chrysler Museum & Glass Studio and continues Friday evening with the opening night show at Work | Release.
During both nights stop by O’Connor Brewing Company’s pop-up beer garden, take in Glass Wheel Studio’s new mural, discover student neon exhibitions and visit NEON District favorites like the Parlor, Zeke’s Beans & Bowls, Exotic Home, Nouvelle, Push Comedy Theater and Chrysler Hall.
Bring a chair to sit and enjoy a show or just wander and enjoy.
The creative fun continues all through Norfolk’s Visual Arts Week and leads into a fantastic Norfolk weekend with Town Point Park’s Wine Festival and the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival.
