NORFOLK, Va. - (April 26, 2010) – On Tuesday, April 20, 2010 the Virginia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus’ (VACVB) hosted the 2nd Annual Virgo Travel & Tourism Awards where the Norfolk CVB was presented the 2010 Virgo Award for “Visitor Center of the Year.” The Center was awarded for its outstanding hotel & business program, electronic advertising, social networking & the online live chat with visitors program.
Melissa Hopper, Associate Director of Tour & Travel for the NCVB, was honored with the 2010 Shining Star Merit Award for Sales Manager of the Year. Hopper was awarded for her efforts in securing Norfolk as the host city for the 13th Annual Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) Conference in 2009 which estimated economic revenue impact in the City of Norfolk was nearly $9 million.
