Want to explore Norfolk without breaking the bank? Our city’s restaurants, attractions and shops easily accommodate a variety of budgets. Here’s how to enjoy Norfolk on a budget.
Eat & Drink
Head to the NEON (New Energy of Norfolk) Arts District for some of the most affordable tacos in town. Sanctuary doles out $3.00 tacos with your choice of toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapenos, cilantro, sour cream, chili lime sauce, micro greens, and homemade coleslaw.
Farther down the road, in the historic Ghent district, stop by Mr. Shawarma where you’ll find mouth-watering Middle Eastern street food for a steal of a deal. You can get a Shawarma Wrap (sliced & marinated turkey meat with layers of slow-cooked lamb) for around 10 bucks! Other goodies on the menu include homemade falafel balls, fries, hummus and basmati rice.
Take a walk or grab a Pace bike and explore the Elizabeth River Trail, a 10.5-mile biking and pedestrian urban trail that extends between Harbor Park Stadium and Norfolk International Terminals. Highlights along the trail include the Weynoke Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary, Town Point Park, the Fort Norfolk, Plum Point Park, and several of Norfolk’s historic neighborhoods. All of which cost no charge to explore!
Inexpensive or Free Activities
