Donna Allen, VisitNorfolk’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, has been named a PR News National Diversity Award winner for 2016. Allen is just one of 11 individuals being honored for diversity marketing efforts by the nationwide public relations trade organization this year. She is being recognized for her significant efforts to attract a diverse traveling public to the city of Norfolk.
“Obviously I am humbled and honored, yet this award truly represents how dynamic, diverse and distinct Norfolk has become,” Allen said. “It validates everything we do to showcase Norfolk as a welcoming destination for both business and leisure travelers.”
Allen was specifically recognized for leading the city’s “Dynamic, Diverse and Distinct” branding and marketing campaign which consistently incorporates diversity in all messaging and communication; and for promoting a variety of events that highlight Norfolk’s commitment to diversity.
“Honorees took chances, made incredible strides, set new standards of excellence in communication and point the way for other organizations to follow,” PR News said in a statement announcing the awards.
Allen and other award winners will be formally saluted on March 15 during PR News' Spring Awards Luncheon at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
