NORFOLK, Va. (August 30, 2012) – The Norfolk Tourism Research Foundation will host its ninth annual golf tournament on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Ocean View Golf Course in Norfolk, VA. Registration and putting contest will begin at 11:00 a.m. and tee-off will be 12:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at approximately 5:00 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony and silent auction at 6:00 p.m.

The hole-in-one prize this year will be $10,000. The tournament will also feature a silent auction, golf poker, a putting contest, $100,000 shoot-out, ladies & men’s longest drive and closest to the pin contests.

The Title Sponsor of this year’s tournament is Towne Bank. Gold Sponsor is Monarch Bank. Other sponsors include MacArthur Mall, Apex Technologies, Dave Iwans & Associates, Black & White Cabs, Spirit of Norfolk, and Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel.

 

Omar’s Carriage House will provide lunch for all golfers before the game begins. The Culinary Institute of Virginia, School of Culinary Arts of ECPI University, will sponsor the banquet and awards ceremony following the tournament.  The menu will include dishes created by the winning teams of a catering competition for the culinary students being held on September 28, 2012. The Norfolk Tourism Foundation began working with the Culinary Institute of Virginia, School of Culinary Arts of ECPI University two years ago because the foundation wanted to give back to the tourism community and felt contributing to a student’s college education in the hospitality field was the most appropriate way.
