Ocean View Beach Park is where you’ll find wildly popular summer events such as, The TGOV (Thank Goodness it’s Ocean View) Concert Series, along with Big Bands On The Bay and Brews On The Bay! The 6.5-acre beach park is centrally located, making it a perfect place to meet before a beach day. Additionally, the park has a large band shell for presentations, concerts and dancing. During the summer, from the Saturday before Memorial Day though Labor Day, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., there are professional lifeguards on duty. The park provides 70 free parking spaces.
Sarah Constant Beach Park is a great place to sit back and relax on the sand, watch ships and boats sail by, and enjoy the sun. Picnic tables are provided, so pack a lunch! There’s a fantastic view of the local fishing pier from the beach, keeping you entertained during your beach day. During the summer, from the Saturday before Memorial Day though Labor Day, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., there are professional lifeguards on duty. The park provides 260 free parking spaces.
Community Beach Park is where you can bask in the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay. The perfect destination to play with your kids on the water! The 7.3 miles of shoreline is great for swimming, kayaking, floating or simply sitting at the edge of the water. During the summer, from the Saturday before Memorial Day though Labor Day, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., there are professional lifeguards on duty. The park provides 92 free parking spaces.
Ocean View Fishing Pier is the perfect place to cast a line and enjoy the view. On the pier, you’ll find a tackle shop with all your fishing needs, from rods and reels to lures and sinkers, along with a restaurant for a bite after a day’s fishing. The Ocean View Fishing Pier additionally offers a children’s Fishing Camp, (ages 6-13), which includes daily lunch and a fishing pole. Now that’s a catch!
The Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library, named after Miss Mary Denson Pretlow, the former librarian of the Norfolk Public Library from 1917-1947. Pretlow oversaw the reclassification of the nonfiction collection that the library carried to conform to the Dewey Decimal System. This centrally located public library in OV offers free children’s play classes such as Toddler Time, 1-2-3 Play With Me, and KinderREAD/KinderMATH. For an updated calendar of events, click HERE.
The Ocean View Station Museum traces the history of Ocean View from the 1880s to the 1980s. The museum displays a rollercoaster car and a boat from the famous former Ocean View Amusement Park. Stop by to check out artifacts and picture from the early days of Ocean View. The library is open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
