Virginia Zoo's Nature & Eco Tour

Virginia Zoo and Norfolk Kayak Rentals partner to bring the Lafayette River's first Nature & Eco tour. All tours benefit the Virginia Zoo Act for Wildlife Fund.

Join us as we explore the Lafayette River on our Nature & Eco Tour, benefitting the Virginia Zoo’s Act for Wildlife Fund. On this tour we discuss the river’s ecosystems, marine wildlife, issues facing the river, explore restoration efforts currently underway and how we can help. If you’re lucky, we may see a pod of dolphins chasing fish or catch a bald eagle flying high above. This tour runs for 90 minutes and will cover approximately 3-3.5 miles of kayaking at a leisurely pace. All experiences levels are welcome; however, please be prepared to paddle the majority of the time on the water.

The Virginia Zoo supports conservation activities locally and world-wide. Form improving wetlands and shoreline oyster beds on Zoo grounds to funding the scientific study and protection of tigers, hornbills, red pandas and more, the Zoo is committed to ensuring that all wildlife survives for future generations. Now is your chance to Act for Wildlife and help tackle the challenges facing endangered species.
