These events are sure to make your holidays merry and bright! What fun it is to ride and sing and check out Norfolk's sites.
Ongoing - This holiday season, try your hand at hot glassblowing! Adjacent to the renowned Chrysler Museum of Art is the ultramodern Chrysler Glass Studio where free demonstrations are offered daily. And there's a fully equipped hot shop where beginners can learn to turn molten glass on a pipe and use tools, heat, gravity, and air pressure to transform it into your very own Christmas ornament.
November 23 - The 34th Annual Grand Illumination Parade has a special Broadway theme this year. Free and open to the public, the parade features spectacular floats, marching bands, dancers and Old Saint Nick himself.
November 29-December 22 - Virginia Stage’s most popular production, A Christmas Carol, continues its tradition at the Wells Theatre. Follow Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey through time with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future as he learns about redemption, kindness, and compassion. Filled with music and mirth, this timeless play is recommended for all ages and is fun for the whole family to enjoy.
December 6-8 - Tchaikovsky's brilliant ballet score, The Nutcracker comes to life for this magical collaboration between Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra! Heralded as "perfect" by The New York Times, Stoner Winslett's The Nutcracker returns to Chrysler Hall for the 7th consecutive year.
December 7 - The 6th Annual Holiday Yule Log Bonfire & Christmas Market is the perfect place to warm up with some hot coco and shop 'til you drop for everyone on your list! This festive outdoor wonderland will feature unique and local crafters, a massive Yule Log bonfire, Christmas caroling with a take home carol book, and also a visit from the big-man himself, Santa Claus from Noon-8pm.
December 14 - This must-see holiday tradition of the season – Holiday Pops! at the Harrison Opera House at 8pm. There's no better way to lift your spirits than with seasonal songs and traditional carols delivered in full sound and spectacle by the Virginia Symphony, the inspirational voices of Virginia Symphony Orchestra Chorus and special guests.
December 20 - Audiences and critics worldwide have praised the gifted singers of the Vienna Boys Choir for their celestial voices, rapturous harmonies, pure tone, irresistible charm, and, above all, a wide-ranging repertoire spanning centuries. Season after season, the sound is unique, with new young voices to discover, and fresh new harmonies to savor.
