VisitNorfolk’s Champion of Hospitality Awards for National Travel and Tourism Week 2026

VisitNorfolk, in partnership with the Norfolk Tourism Foundation (NTF), is proud to celebrate the U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW), held May 3-9, recognizing the vital role tourism plays in driving economic growth, creating jobs and enhancing quality of life in Norfolk.

As part of this annual celebration, VisitNorfolk and NTF honor individuals and teams who deliver exceptional service through the Champions of Hospitality Awards. These awards recognize front-line and behind-the-scenes professionals who help shape memorable visitor experience and elevate Norfolk’s reputation as a welcoming destination. Nominations are submitted by peers, colleagues and guests who have experienced their outstanding service firsthand.

Among these honors, one individual is selected for the Peter G. Decker Jr., Hospitality Associate of the Year Award, recognizing a hospitality professional who consistently demonstrates excellence, leadership and a commitment to service in their field.

This year also marks the introduction of the Lisa MacKenzie Customer Service Award, created in memory of a beloved VisitNorfolk team member who dedicated more than 15 years to welcoming visitors to the city. Known for her warmth, knowledge and genuine kindness, MacKenzie left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. The award honors a nominee who embodies her spirit of hospitality, passion for Norfolk and unwavering dedication to service.
