Are you curious about how we can live in harmony with nature and adapt to the challenges of climate change? Do you want to see how cutting-edge design and technology can create a resilient and sustainable urban coastal community? Do you want to learn more about the Elizabeth River Project and its vision for the future?
Join the Elizabeth River Project for a tour of our globally significant resilience model, the Ryan Resilience Lab. This state-of-the-art building showcases how we can protect both the ecosystem and humans as sea levels rise, incorporating replicable, environmentally sustainable design and construction.
The Ryan Resilience Lab is also the key anchor for the Eco-District, a collaborative effort to transform the northern part of Norfolk’s Colley Avenue near Knitting Mill Creek into an innovation corridor that fosters economic development, social equity, and environmental stewardship.
During the tour, you will get to see the inside and outside of the building, learn about its features and functions, and hear from our staff and volunteers about the organization’s work and goals.
The tours are free and open to the public, but space is limited and pre-registration is appreciated. Donations are always appreciated to support a healthy Elizabeth River. We look forward to seeing you soon!
If you cannot join us on our regular tour dates and times, or if you would like to arrange a special tour for your group, please reach out to Victoria Dunch at vdunch@elizabethriver.org.
Hailing from the east side’s 6 Mile section, the 29-year-old born Marcellus Register is a staple of both Detroit and couture street rap at large. With his trademark conversational delivery and thoughtful wordplay, Ray has accumulated over 400 million streams in a little over 2 years . In 2021 Ray went on a run that started with the release of Unf*ckwitable and culminated with Ray being booked for festivals such as Rolling Loud Miami, NY, and LA, Day in Vegas, Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash, and more as well as opening for Jack Harlow as direct support on the Creme de la Creme tour. Unf*ckwitable saw Ray chart #1 on Billboard heatseekers and in the Rolling Stone Trending at #25.
In the wake of Unf*ckwitable’s success, Ray garnered co-signs from Tyler The Creator, Lil Baby, Future, and LaMello Ball, and accumulated a host of collaborations with modern rap megastars such as Jack Harlow, Trippie Redd, Big Sean, Moneybagg Yo, and EST Gee, which set the stage for 2022 and his official debut album “FACE”.
Upon its release, “FACE” ascended to the #3 spot on Apple Music all genres chart and #2 on the hip hop chart, drumming up widespread acclaim and high praise from Billboard, Pitchfork, Complex and more.
In support of the FACE album, Ray went on his first nationwide sold out tour and played festivals such as Rolling Loud, Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash, Made In America, Wireless Fest, Broccoli City and others. He was also recently named an XXL freshman for 2022 and was elected to be part of the 2022 class for YouTube Music’s Black Voices Fund. In the wake of these accolades, Ray returns with his second album of the year in “MOB”. The project features Lil Durk, Blxst, Nija, Doe Boy and more, and leads up to Ray’s Late night TV performance on Jimmy Fallon, as well as his second headline tour slated for 2023.
Born and raised in Philly, crash landed in Charleston, Kevin and John Shields are breaking into previously uncharted waters with their quirky indie hip-hop group, Little Stranger. Between John’s melodic singer-songwriter magnetism, Kevin’s in-your-face delivery, and an overall undeniable groove, this duo is sure to get any audience up and moving. Stylistically reminiscent of Gorillaz and Odelay-era Beck, Little Stranger delivers a fresh take on melodic hip-hop. Every track brings the uniqueness and strangeness that their name implies.
For the past few years, the duo has perfected their live performance by playing over 100 shows per year prior to the coronavirus shutdown. The group also puts a big focus on creating arresting visual experiences through their music videos, their own eccentric television program (LSTV), and in-house graphics. Between their out-of-the-box creative endeavors and an ever-increasing arsenal of new tunes, Little Stranger is poised to make 2023 another slam dunk.
