Surviving Through Mental Health: Family Matters - Part 2
Thursday, July 9, 2026
Norfolk Community Services Board is partnering with Project ORF to bring the community together for an evening of connection, healing and support in honor of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month with the 3rd Annual Surviving Through Mental Health on July 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Attucks Theatre.
This year’s theme, Family Matters: Part 2, explores how mental health stressors can impact individuals and families across generations and how communities can work together to build resilience, understanding, and collective care.
The program features dynamic panel discussions with mental health experts, activists, and survivors, along with a fireside chat with state leaders including State Senator Angelia Williams Graves and Marvin B. Figueroa, Secretary of Health and Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
WAVY TV’s Aesia Toliver leads the evening as host and moderator.
Dozens of community mental health and wellness partners will be onsite offering outreach, resources and information. Attendees can also enjoy prizes, raffles, music, food and refreshments (first-come, first served), giveaways and much more!
Individuals, families and friends of all ages are welcome to attend and participate, especially teens and young adults. Surviving Through Mental Health is a free event and registration is preferred but not required.
