Beaded Embroidery Workshop at TCC’s Visual Arts + Design Center

May 2 2026

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
TCC’s Visual Arts + Design Center 260 Boush Street, Norfolk, VA 23510, Price: This workshop is FREE and pre-registration is required as seats are limited.

When: Saturday, May 2, 10am – 12pm
Where: TCC’s Visual Arts + Design Center, 260 Boush Street, Norfolk, VA 23510
TCC’s Visual Arts + Design Center (VADC) is pleased to host Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) Teaching Artist, Rowena Federico Finn for a special workshop opportunity supported by the Arts in Practice Grant Award.
In this FREE workshop, participants will follow along with the instructor to stitch a succulent beaded cactus that will be ready to hang upon completion. Each participant will choose unique beads and sequins to create a dynamic textured masterpiece that hones design and hand-sewing skills. This 2-hour workshop will foster creativity, problem-solving, and a sense of stillness through the meditative practice of hand-stitching. It is also an opportunity for TCC students to explore a new medium not taught in regular studio arts courses at the VADC.
This project was supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly.
All supplies are provided. This workshop is FREE and pre-registration is required as seats are limited. For questions, email Leslie Mounaime lmounaime@tcc.edu.

Girl-Prov : A Girl’s Night Out with Improv Comedy

May 1 2026

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Push Comedy Theater 763 Granby Street Norfolk, VA 23510, Price: $11.00
Need a Fun Girl’s Night Out? Show your support for women in comedy.

GirlProv is an all-female improv show that showcases some of the funniest women in the area. Our ladies take your one-word suggestions and stories, then weave them into a series of hilarious scenes right in front of your eyes. Imagine a sorority house party vibe combined with a girl’s night out on the town. That’s the kind of fun you’d find hanging out with these amazing women.

Girlprov is a fan-favorite show at The Push Comedy Theater and will leave you in stitches. So spend an evening with us, and celebrate women in comedy every first Friday of the month. Smash the patriarchy, and leave with a smile on your face afterward.

Our show consists of two halves with a (roughly) 10-minute intermission. That’s plenty of time to refresh your beverage and take a bathroom break. It’s also plenty of time for the occasional dance party that breaks out in the aisle.

Class Dismissed: The Improv 301 Graduation Show

May 7 2026

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Push Comedy Theater 763 Granby Street Norfolk, VA 23510, Price: $6.00
It’s Harold Time*! And it’s graduation time for another improv comedy class!
Check out the Push Comedy Theater’s Improv 101 class as they show off their comedy chops. Watch as folks conquer stage fright, work together, and have tons of fun along the way. You’ll double over laughing as you witness new stars being born, and some folks discover they’ve been the funny ones all along. Whether you come to support a friend, partner, family member, or co-worker, you won’t believe what these comedy newcomers have in store for you!
*Now, what the heck is a Harold? The Harold is perhaps the best-known style of long-form improv. It starts with an audience suggestion, then improvisers weave together scenes, characters, and group games to create a seamless piece. It’s bizarre and magical, baffling and amazing… and you have to see it to believe it.
