Plume Street) on October 29 and October 30 from 9AM to 5PM;  October 31 from 9AM to 3PM for even BIGGER bargains!

Neighbors of Hope Community Resource Drive

To help maintain the integrity of our programs and keep the Almost Home Emergency Shelter operating without interruption, YWCA South Hampton Roads, in partnership with Life’s Journey, is hosting Neighbors of Hope, a community resource drive:

Part of being a good neighbor is showing up when someone is in need. We invite individuals, businesses, faith communities, civic organizations, schools, and community partners to help us stock the shelter with essential supplies.

Our most-needed items include cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, personal hygiene items, diapers and baby supplies, back-to-school supplies, new bedding, non-perishable food, and gift cards for groceries, gas, and other essential needs. No item or donation is too small.

We are also requesting Survivor Safety items, including Tracfones, Net10 service cards and personal safety alarms, as well as Transportation assistance through bus passes, gas cards, Lyft/Uber gift cards and gas gift cards.

Is the stress of life mixed with the end of the year quickly approaching stressing you out? If so this 4 part stress management series is for you AND it can be done via the comfort of your own home!

In this 4 part series as we discuss strategies && techniques for how to cope with the stress in your life. Topics will include resourcing & meditation, journaling, pranayama (breath work), and more!   Mind Body Medicine is based on the recognition of the interplay between beliefs, thoughts, feelings, behaviors and relationships that can have a profound effect on the body and vice versa. As research has worked to quantify what yoga practitioners have known for 5000 years, this program will present a wide variety of techniques aimed to induce the “relaxation response”, all of which enhance mental focus.   Join Barb Morrison, physician assistant + yoga teacher as we develop techniques to improve our ability to cultivate this healing part of our nervous system.

This 4 part series will cover :: – Recognizing your personal response to stress – Meditative techniques to help elicit the Relaxation Response – How to change thought patterns and emotional outlook – Techniques to improve eating, sleeping and physical activity   We recommend grabbing a notebook + writing utensil to take notes and document resources and we look forward to practicing with you off the mat!

Yoga teachers can earn up to 8 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Hours/Credits
