Getting Around

If your stay brings you downtown, we encourage you to leave your car in one of the many convenient city parking facilities in and around the waterfront and take a stroll down the pedestrian-friendly streets. You can also hop on the Tide, Norfolk’s light rail system that has 11 stops along a 7.5 mile route connecting you to many of the city’s attractions and restaurants. If you venture outside of downtown, in most cases it’s just a 15-minute car or taxi ride to any of Norfolk’s exciting attractions.

E-ZPass, an automated toll collection system that allows motorists to pay without stopping at the toll booths, is now available on the downtown and midtown tunnels. The Hampton Roads EzPass is part of the multistate tolling system including 15 states in the Northeast corridor. Motorists without an E-ZPass can still go through the tunnels and will be invoiced a $4 toll fee or $3 if you register to “pay-by-plate.” For more information, visit https://www.ezpassva.com/.
