Look for eco-friendly products made from natural ingredients that are free from harsh, synthetic chemicals and stem from makers who are environmentally aware. Household items like soap, lotion and deodorant are sold in recycled, recyclable, compostable or biodegradable packaging—or without packaging at all. Customers are encouraged to bring their own containers and fill or refill to their heart’s desire. Products can be purchased in store or online.

Saturday and Sunday :  11 am- 2 pm. Monday- Friday: 8:30 am-5 pm.

About Our Visitor Services Team

The Visitor Services team extended a warm welcome to a diverse range of event attendees, convention-goers, cruise ship passengers, vacationers and more. The team hosted a Retail Alliance meet and greet at the Visitor Center/Mermaid Market, effectively bolstering local community engagement. The Mermaid Market, nestled within the Visitor Center, collaborated with 13 local businesses and showcased the talents of community artisans, resulting in an 8% increase in sales and a 3% rise in online transactions. Additionally, our revamped Mobile Visitor Center van covered over 1,500 miles, visiting 13 State Welcome Centers in Virginia and neighboring states, even participating in three local parades. The team engaged in advertising display blitzes at New Kent, New Church, and Covington Visitor Centers, amplifying our outreach.

In FY 2023, 34,770+ visitors came into the Mermaid Market, interacted with the Mobile Visitor Center during cruise ship arrivals and at other events145+ locally and statewide events attended.
