Using art as a driving force for sociopolitical change, the NEON District Public Art Committee is seeking proposals for programs to accompany and support our newest art exhibition Shine a Light, on view March 4 to April 17, 2022 at Commune Norfolk.
The exhibition aims to shed light on many issues that have impacted our communities for generations. Artists are encouraged to address topics such as houselessness, human rights, social justice, gender and racial equity, environmental sustainability and the global pandemic, in thought-provoking and creative ways. We are seeking educational and entertaining programming that complements these themes, through events such as panel discussions, readings, live recordings, lectures, poetry or music.
All programs will take place at the location of the exhibition, Commune NFK. Dates and times are flexible, and based on availability from March 4 – April 17. Virtual options can be possible as well.
Additional programming could be added to any of our tentatively scheduled programs including:
Friday, March 4, 6-9pm: Exhibition Opening
Thursday, March 24, 5-8pm: Art of Networking II (artist panel)
Sunday, April 17, 10am-2pm: Exhibition Closing Brunch
