LAVA PRESENTS KENNEKA COOK
Partnering with LAVA Presents, we welcome Kenneka Cook and her unique mix of melodic jazz, electronic sounds and spacey riffs. Richmond’s Style Weekly describes her latest album as “soulful and spacey, a standout piece of work for an emerging solo artist."
Before the music starts, join Curator Lindsay Neal and learn about how live music was an important part of the Sloane family’s entertainment. Listen to newly discovered Victrola records and hear quirky musical samplings from the Sloane-era. Have a look at some of the more unique vintage musical items at the Hermitage: from the classic Steinway piano, the "instrument of the immortals," to the inner workings of the player organ, Explore the museum’s special exhibition, 3D Printing the Smithsonian and enjoy refreshments.

ARTIST ALISON STINELY: Merging Antiquity and New Technology in Art-making
To celebrate our special exhibition, 3D Printing the Smithsonian, the Hermitage welcomes artist Alison Stinely. Alison creates poignant and soulful paintings incorporating 3D elements. Alison will discuss the content of her work and the processes used to create it.
Alison’s talk will be followed by a musical element. Stay tuned for details!
