Art Matters is a free, evidence-based intervention that helps improve the quality of life for those with dementia. Individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners are invited to conversational tours designed to offer a pleasant experience and serve as cognitive stimulation. Art Matters is a free program presented in partnership with the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

This three-hour class is perfect for beginners! Choose a morning or afternoon session and work closely with glass instructors to select glass colors and design elements to personalize your glass artworks and gain great experience with molten glass. By the end of the day, you’ll have three objects including a paperweight, a bud vase, and a candy dish.

This class is ideal for anyone interested in trying out the fused glass process. Make several magnets using small segments of glass and tile nippers. Create the designs by nipping the glass into smaller pieces and adding them to a base layer that will later be melted together in a kiln.
