Clay Crafts: Mother's Day Edition

May 8 - May 9 2026

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
All Hands Pottery Studio 164 S Military Highway Norfolk, VA 23505, Price: $60.54

Use cookie cutters to shape clay charms and jewelry, glaze your favorites, and create up to 3 themed pieces—no experience needed.

Clay Crafts: Mother’s Day Edition

Join Artesstry’s Tess O’Malley for a fun evening of crafting with clay!

You’ll use small cookie cutters to shape your charms, then pick your favorite colors to glaze your creations all in one workshop. For the Mother’s Day Edition of Clay Crafts, the main cutter shapes will be florals, leaves, and hearts! Other simple shapes will also be included. No previous art experience required, the studio will provide all materials, instruction, and basic techniques for working with clay. This class is a hand-building workshop and does not involve the use of a pottery wheel.

Each student will be permitted to create up to three (3) charms. After class is done, Tess will process each charm and assemble them to each student’s choosing: charms can be used to create either a pair of earrings (studs or dangles), a hair clip, or a magnet. Students can mix and match their final products.

Examples:

-1 pair of earrings + 1 magnet/necklace charm/hair clip

-1 magnet + 1 necklace charm + 1 hair clip

-3 magnets/necklace charms/hair clips

***Hypoallergenic Jewelry available upon request (bring $3 cash to upgrade to hypoallergenic)

Jewelry Info:

Alligator hair clips are a metal alloy.

Ear studs are stainless steel with a silicone backing.

Ear hooks are a nickel alloy with a silicone backing; titanium ear hooks are a $3 upgrade per student due on the day of class, which can be paid on-site at the studio in cash.

Necklaces are made using a leather cord and a stainless steel jump ring.

All dangle earring or necklace charms will have a small hook made of tungsten inserted into the clay.

Due to our supply of materials, only dangle earring jewelry can be made fully hypoallergenic.

In case your charm(s) is a gift for your valentine, the final products for this workshop will be ready for pickup on or before Valentine’s Day!

This workshop is for students age 13 and up, or 6 and up with a paying adult.

***Please note that there must be at least 3 people registered 48 hours in advance of the class in order for this class to run.

A little more about Tess and Artesstry: Tess moved to Norfolk from California in 2023 and started her own business selling ceramics and custom works of art that same year. Out of the many artistic media that she’s explored, Tess enjoys creating small, detailed pieces the most, and she’s excited to share this passion with you!
