Come join us as educators and volunteers offer themed animal interactions inside one of the Zoo’s classroom spaces. Our Little Zoo program offers our guests an intimate look at our animal ambassadors with station-based learning. This program is open to all who want to experience and grow in our Little Zoo. See signs posted in the Zoo’s Fountain Plaza to find out the location of Little Zoo on the day of your visit. Free with general admission.

Special Display | Beginnings: Images of Occupied Japan

This rotating collection of prints by US Army photographer Nicholas Orzio portray the drastic changes experienced by Japan in the immediate years following World War II.


This exhibit presents a rotating set of photographs taken by Nicholas Orzio of the 71st Signal Service Battalion attached to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Tokyo. His service took him across the country from 1948-1949, and his photographs dramatically portray the story of tremendous change during Japan’s recovery from total defeat following WWII.

Finish off your look with accessories that you can’t find in a store. Use a mix of clear and colorful glass to create abstract and floral-inspired jewelry. Learn about the basics and simple patterns. Throughout the day, build on those skills to create intricately designed wearables.
