Make a blown or solid object of your choice. Create a blown ornament or sculptural bauble, or sculpt a solid object like a starfish or heart. Choose from an array of color options to make your object unique. Object availability varies by season.

Art Matters is a free, evidence-based intervention that helps improve the quality of life for those with dementia. Individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners are invited to conversational tours designed to offer a pleasant experience and serve as cognitive stimulation. Art Matters is a free program presented in partnership with the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Step into a new era of museum nightlife at the revolutionary art party everyone’s talking about — IgNITE! This bold, always-surprising event is designed to spark your imagination with a high-energy, multisensory experience packed with art, dancing, performances, creativity, and more.
A spectacular experience of color, sound, and good vibrations in this Haitian Carnival celebration! Join the fun by dressing in costume and being part of an eclectic and electric parade around the Museum. Enjoy drum circles, a fiery hot brass band, Samba-inspired Line Dancing, and DJ sets infused with global beats. To top things off, watch Caribbean cooking demonstrations and be among the lucky few to participate in a special rum tasting with Josh Seaberg of Model Citizen.
Costumes are encouraged, but for safety and security, only handheld masks with stick handles are permitted. Full-face and masquerade style masks are not allowed at this event.
