The Fifth Element at The Naro *Flashback Friday*

March 13 2026

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Naro Cinema 1507 Colley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23517, Price: Price may vary
Big bada boom on the big screen.
The Fifth Element
Friday, March 13th at 9:15pm
In the 23rd century, cab driver Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) gets more than a fare when Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) crashes into his life. She is the key to stopping an ancient cosmic evil, but only if the five elements can be united in time. With Father Cornelius, Ruby Rhod, and a villainous industrialist named Zorg in the mix, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.
Wild, colorful, stylish, and gloriously over the top, this sci-fi cult classic from director Luc Besson remains one of the most inventive blockbusters of the 1990s.
“One of the great goofy movies, a film so preposterous I wasn’t surprised to discover it was written by a teenage boy.” – Roger Ebert
(1997, PG-13, 2h 7m)
Big screen. Big sound. Big multipass energy.

Film Break Society: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS (1982) at Naro Cinema

March 26 2026

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Naro Cinema 1507 Colley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23517, Price: Price may vary

Everything sucks, and teenager Corinne “Third Degree” Burns (Diane Lane) isn’t afraid to tell you about it. When the TV news catches her getting fired for mouthing off to her boss, Burns enlists her kid sister “Dee Pleted” (Marin Kanter) and cousin, “Dizzy Heights” (Laura Dern, who sued her mother Diane Ladd for emancipation to star) to form The Stains, a garage band light on talent but gritty enough to charm an army of disaffected teens across the country.

Written by Oscar winner Nancy Dowd (COMING HOME, SLAP SHOT), and UK punk pioneer Caroline Coon, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS sat on the shelf for two years after its director (record exec Lou Adler) clashed with the writing team over their aspirational feminist vision for the film.

Hard to find for decades, STAINS found an audience on cable, where its razorblade, anti-corporate, “don’t put out” sensibility inspired a wave of upstart Riot Grrls like Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill, and MARY JANE’S NOT A VIRGIN ANYMORE director Sarah Jacobson to start a revolution of their own.

New 4K Restoration by Fun City Editions.
Beer and wine sales benefit FILM BREAK SOCIETY, a non-profit program dedicated to new restorations and independents.
