Rope making is a chance to learn and create with your hands in an interactive way.
Discover how rope and rope making has been implemented on board ships for hundreds of years and how it impacted economic trade throughout the world’s oceans.
Rope making doesn’t just have to involve producing rope for sailing. Help craft your own colorful rope bracelet using technology our ancestors did as we dive into all these topics while spinning your way through history.
Do you have what it takes to survive in cold waters? Participants will learn about the different tools necessary for survival and rescue on the open ocean and will be able to try on real-life immersion suits!
This daily program is included in Nauticus’ general admission.
Learn about the history of knot tying and try your hand at key knots essential to sailing!
This education program is included with General Admission to Nauticus.
Did you know 97% of Atlantic Sturgeon spawn in the exact same river they were born in? Would you also be surprised to find out that they navigate their way back to their home rivers by using their sense of smell! Come join us here at Nauticus for “Smell Like A Sturgeon”, an interactive floor program that tests your sense of smell to see if you have what it takes to sniff your way home like the Atlantic Sturgeon.
Smell Like A Sturgeon activity is included in general admission.
Everything sucks, and teenager Corinne “Third Degree” Burns (Diane Lane) isn’t afraid to tell you about it. When the TV news catches her getting fired for mouthing off to her boss, Burns enlists her kid sister “Dee Pleted” (Marin Kanter) and cousin, “Dizzy Heights” (Laura Dern, who sued her mother Diane Ladd for emancipation to star) to form The Stains, a garage band light on talent but gritty enough to charm an army of disaffected teens across the country.
Written by Oscar winner Nancy Dowd (COMING HOME, SLAP SHOT), and UK punk pioneer Caroline Coon, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS sat on the shelf for two years after its director (record exec Lou Adler) clashed with the writing team over their aspirational feminist vision for the film.
Hard to find for decades, STAINS found an audience on cable, where its razorblade, anti-corporate, “don’t put out” sensibility inspired a wave of upstart Riot Grrls like Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill, and MARY JANE’S NOT A VIRGIN ANYMORE director Sarah Jacobson to start a revolution of their own.
Dust off those caps and gowns… because it’s a special graduation time at the Push.
