How about a Queer Film Festival all year long?

Join the Virginia Queer Film Festival and local theater partners for Out on Film Presented by David Nygaard, a year-round schedule of full length LGBTQ+ films.

The Virginia Queer Film Festival has curated a comprehensive collection of wide release feature films and documentaries, and thanks to theater partners, they will be screening one a month at alternating venues each month beginning in August 2023.

This 1995 American road comedy film directed by Beeban Kidron and stars Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo as three New York City drag queens who embark on a road trip. The title refers to an iconic autographed photo of Julie Newmar that they carry with them on their journey. Newmar additionally appears in the film as herself. The film was notable for being the first major Hollywood studio movie to center on drag queens. The film was released on September 8, 1995 and was in the number 1 spot in the North American box office for two weeks with a worldwide gross of $47.8 million. The performances of Swayze, Snipes, and Leguizamo were lauded, and Swayze and Leguizamo both earned Golden Globe Award nominations as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. (1995, PG, 1h 48m) All tickets are $11; ticket books will be accepted.
