Get ready for a “paws-itively” awesome summer party! Join Norfolk Animal Care Center and Norfolk Public Library for “Waggin’ Readin’ & Craftin’,” a free, family-friendly event packed with animal fun, summer reading and creative crafts on June 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library (111 W. Ocean View Ave.).

Waggin’ means that NACC’s mobile adoption unit, Waggin’ Wheels, will be at the library for an exciting adoption event and pet food drive. Participants are encouraged to donate pet food – any size, flavor, wet, dry, even treats – to support the Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center Pet Pantry.

Readin’ celebrates the beginning of NPL’s annual Summer Reading Program, which kicks off on June 7. Participants can sign up at the branch to log minutes and win prizes.

Craftin’ includes pet bandana making in Pretlow’s RMP Maker Studio to benefit NACC and pet photos with some of NACC’s adorable, adoptable animals and more. This event will kick off June’s Sew-4-Service month, where participants can sew pet beds for animals in need. Those interested can register for a slot Tuesdays – Fridays in June at norfolk.libcal.com.

Anyone who adopts a dog or cat from NACC during the month of June will receive a FREE, custom-made pet tag for their new furry friend, courtesy of the RMP Maker Studio.
