Elizabeth River Trail Foundation is celebrating October with purpose. Forging a new partnership with Rollbounce Rollout to bring a first-of-its-kind event to the trail. The Pink-Out, Where Resilience meets the River brings a huge outdoor pop-up rink, free dance skate workshop featuring celebrity skate instructor, Paul “Ajax” Johnson, DJ, resources, a breast cancer survivor art gallery, and vibe and roll out on the ERT’s Glowline as the sun sets.
Rollbounce Rollout are leaders in our region’s fast-growing mixed roller community. “We are thrilled to come together in this partnership to bring The Pink-Out to the trail, shine a light on the importance of screening, and create a unique and inclusive experience that brings people to the ERT in a new way,” said Kindra Greene, executive director of the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation.
Jackie Wallace, co-founder of Rollbounce Rollout, designed The Pinkout as an uplifting experience to shine a light on the importance of screening for the early detection of breast cancer and to share her experience as survivor, crediting community support as a major life line for her during her battle against breast cancer.
The event will also feature Spinclusion providing rides around the rink and along the ERT on adaptive bikes and trikes for those going through treatment or unable to roll on their own. “We love this partnership, spreading awareness for breast cancer screening, paired with movement and community,” said Wallace. This event highlights the ERT Foundation’s mission of connection, physical and mental wellness and improved quality of life.
All wheels are welcome to this free event on the ERT at the Lambert’s Point Trailhead
