Join Norfolk Tour Company on this FREE walking tour of theater and performing arts in Downtown Norfolk! Tour guide Joshua Weinstein will explore Downtown Norfolk’s rich history of the live theater and the performing arts utilizing in-depth research and historical photos.
The tour will reconstruct a vision of Downtown Norfolk’s theater community by viewing the exteriors of current and former theaters, discuss performers and shows that graced the city’s stages, and finally learn how the performing arts have shaped Downtown Norfolk over the centuries.
We’ll cover all forms of theater, from the silver screen, to burlesque, live drama, big bands, opera, vaudeville, comedy–if it was on a stage or screen, we’ll talk about it! We look forward to sharing the magic of this city’s theater history with you all!
The tour will begin at Selden Market on the Main Street end and walk through downtown for around one hour.
