Jazz at The Wells goes big.

For the first time, Jazz at The Wells moves from the Tazewell Lounge to the Wells Theatre main stage for a full-scale Big Band concert featuring the Tidewater Winds Jazz Big Band.

This 25-member ensemble brings the golden age of swing to life with bold brass, tight rhythms, and timeless favorites from the Great American Songbook. Under the direction of Maestro John Brewington, the Big Band delivers music made famous by legends like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Tony Bennett, and Nat King Cole, along with Broadway hits, film music, and fresh arrangements that keep the sound vibrant and alive.

Joining the band are acclaimed vocalists Danielle Roby and Frank Cubillo, whose powerhouse performances add style, charm, and classic crooner energy to the evening. Together, they recreate the feel of a grand jazz concert where the music fills the room and every seat feels part of the moment.

As Resident Artists at venues like the Sandler Center for the Arts and Zeiders American Dream Theater, Tidewater Winds is known across Hampton Roads for performances that honor America’s musical traditions while welcoming audiences of all ages.

If you’ve enjoyed Jazz at The Wells before, this is the elevated, can’t-miss version. If you haven’t, this is the perfect place to start.
