Dr. Loria was born Antwerp, Belgium in 1940. His family attempted to flee several times after the Nazi invasion of Belgium. His father was captured and perished in Auschwitz. Escaping Rivesaltes, they spent the rest of the war in a refugee camp in Switzerland.
