The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation is hosting a youth football camp on June 18. The camp is free & open to Norfolk youth between ages 8-12

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation is hosting a youth football camp on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at S.B. Ballard Stadium on the campus of Old Dominion University. The camp is free and open to Norfolk youth between the ages of 8-12 years old. During the camp, attendees will have the opportunity to work alongside Old Dominion University and Maury High School Football players, practice new skills, and enjoy a day on the field. Parents/Guardians will need to arrange transportation to and from the camp. Norfolk Sheriff’s Office personnel will be on-site for the duration of the camp. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation is hosting a youth baseball camp on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, on the campus of Norfolk State University. The camp is free and open to Norfolk youth between the ages of 8-12 years old. During the camp, attendees will have the opportunity to work alongside Maury High School Baseball players, learn skills, and play a pick-up game. This class introduces design and composition of various types of lidded vessels. Learn techniques for throwing and trimming lids to create closed containers. Students will do hands-on exercises to throw lids and learn to trim and fit the lids to include sizing and stabilization strategies. Additional considerations such as lid decorations and functional knob construction will be covered. This class is aimed at potters with enough experience on the wheel to be able to center and produce a finished pot.

Wheel Werkshop is a 1-night wheel-throwing clinic designed to help you level up your throwing skills quickly in a fun and supportive environment. Each session will start with goal setting and skill assessment. Instruction will cover new techniques, corrections, and ideas. Whether you want to get better at a particular part of the wheel-throwing process, wish to learn something totally new, or have an idea you just can’t seem to bring to fruition, this workshop will help you achieve your goals. Previous wheel-throwing experience is required. Wheel Werkshop is offered on the last Sunday of each month. Sign up for just one date or all three!

Enjoy a class of artistic freedom using your imagination and intuition. This is an exploratory class that consists of varying exercises to help you find new avenues of expression. This multi-media class will have you painting to music, introduce monoprints, and blind contour drawing. Students will use acrylic and oil paints, chalk pastels, and more. If you have an interest in art and being creative but have never taken the first step, this is a great class for you. No experience is needed. Bring an open mind to this non-intimidating class and dare to imagine! Supply list provided at the first class session.

Class Supply List

Explore oil and acrylic painting during this 8-week class. This class will guide participants through the painting process, from color mixing and blending, to application, and brushwork. Students will gain an enhanced understanding of composition and perspective. Choose which painting medium is best for you and learn how acrylic and oil can be used together. Develop your own personal approach to drawing and painting as you examine different styles from both classical and contemporary artists. Students are welcome to bring projects in-progress to receive instructor guidance.

Bring warmth into your home with a beautiful, living succulent arrangement in driftwood. During this one-day workshop, participants will choose from a variety of pre-sanded driftwood pieces collected from local Virginia shorelines. Select from several exotic varieties of succulents to build your arrangement in driftwood. Design techniques will be demonstrated on how to create this unique centerpiece that will live on for seasons to come. In depth details on how to maintain your creation as well as succulent care will be provided.
