Since their debut in 1997, they have garnered widespread acclaim with multiple #1 hits and albums, including their Billboard #1 Smooth Jazz Airplay hit, Catalina Nights.

Wayne, an accomplished saxophonist, and Nelson, a virtuoso bassist, are the heart of the group’s sound. Their dynamic performances are marked by their joyful energy and undeniable chemistry, making them a favorite at theaters, clubs, and festivals worldwide.

Over the years, The Braxton Brothers have shared the stage with legendary artists like Michael Bolton, Sheila E. and Ledisi, further showcasing their exceptional talent and versatility. With a career spanning more than two decades, they continue to evolve their sound while staying true to their roots in jazz, R&B and pop. Wayne reflects “our father had a record collection of literally thousands! We grew up constantly listening to legendary music from any genre you can imagine since we were born.”

Their music, a unique fusion of rhythm and melody, is both timeless and contemporary, resonating deeply with fans of all ages. The Braxton Brothers are more than musicians—they are storytellers, using their instruments to celebrate life, love, and faith. Through their innovative compositions and heartfelt performances, they have solidified their legacy as beloved figures in the Smooth Jazz community.

They are proud products of public school music programs and credit the dedication of their teachers, who invested so much time in building a strong foundation, as a significant factor in their success today. Wayne says, “We believe that God puts people in your life along the way to help you do what you were created to do.” Nelson adds, “Exactly, and our music teachers were definitely examples of that.”

Church Street Jazz Series Lindsey Webster

April 19 2025

5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Attucks Theatre 1010 Church St. Norfolk, VA 23510 info@sevenvenues.com, 757-664-6464 Price: $50 - $80 plus applicable fees

If Sade were to take over Mariah Carey’s body and sing to tracks written by Steely Dan, the combination might hit somewhere close to Lindsey Webster’s sound. Until that happens, though, there will just be Lindsey. Woodstock, NY, Lindsey’s native town, might also have had something to do with her powerhouse’s lyrics, style, and down-to-earth attitude.

“We were playing at a club in NYC over the summer and Sting was in the audience. On my second song of the set, he got out of his seat to come shake my hand, say ‘wow’ and thanked me for my talent. I was unfortunately in the middle of singing God Bless the Child, so I couldn’t even really say thank you.”

So what does it take for a young singer to catch the eye of a seasoned Vet in the industry such as Sting? From the first note, Lindsey Webster captivates listeners. Her rich, soulful voice enchants a dedicated following who connect with the raw emotion she shares with them. As a soul R&B artist, she combines an admirable natural talent with a genuine, accessible stage presence.

In 2009 Lindsey met her partner, Keith Slattery, and started performing professionally. Together, with a band of world-class musicians, they’ve performed over 600 shows in venues including Bearsville Theater, Levon Helm Studios, Helsinki Hudson, Daryl’s House, The Falcon, The Lambs Club, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Red Lion.

The success of her first album and winning “Best Acoustic Song” in the Independent Music Awards caught the eye of Atlanta Records, whom she signed with to release her second album, You Change. Appropriately titled, You Change shows a real transition and beautiful growth for Webster as an artist. While humbled her voice has been compared to R&B royalty Sade, Mariah Carey, and Anita Baker, Lindsey looks to bring her distinct style to Soul R&B and continue to make music that resonates with her fans.

Church Street Jazz Series Shaun LaBelle and Stokley

March 15 2025

5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Attucks Theatre 1010 Church St. Norfolk, VA 23510 info@sevenvenues.com, 757-664-6464 Price: $50 - $80 plus applicable fees

At age five, Shaun LaBelle appeared in his first nationally televised commercial for the Lakeside Toys game called “Drop in the Bucket,” and he also taught himself to play drums. Shaun was faced with the decision to pursue a career in television as an actor or become a musician. This child prodigy has done all of the above. Shaun isn’t your typical jazz artist. He is the son of Larry LaBelle legendary TV producer on hit shows such as the Milton Berle Show, and campaigns with Betty Crocker, Land O’Lakes, and Hamm’s Beer.

Shaun learned from the best and it’s no accident where he is today. Shaun engulfs himself in the media entertainment business, from recording and producing a diversity of styles from Ray Charles to Everette Harp. To star in the entertainment-based show, What’s Up In Hollywood for KARE11, NBC-Minneapolis. Currently, he’s in production with American Idol fame Paula Abdul on her new album and nominated for commercial advertisements in production and voice-over work. Shaun is a multi-instrumentalist in bass, drums, keyboards, and guitar and is a multi-top ten writer with a number one hit in Europe with Warner Bros Pop R&B artist Shola Ama, winner of Brits Best Artist (UK’s version of the Grammy’s).

Shaun’s producing career has been filled with legendary groups such as David Pack (Ambrosia), multiple records with Everette Harp, (1992– Present) Jeff Kashiwa, and Steve Reid (Rippingtons.) Shaun has worked with Branford Marsalis and the group Pieces of a Dream. He founded Clive Davis’s group No Mercy which sold 5 million albums worldwide. Shaun performed bass on the Larger Than Life tour for Grammy award-winning recording artist Jody Watley. Shaun is integrated with three major publishing deals that include two from Warner Chappell and today’s world’s largest music publisher EMI.

Now this accomplished producer is getting back to his roots. The record came to be, as numerous artists felt it was time for Shaun to come out with his album. With a little help from his friends, Shaun called his music powerhouse entourage featuring Tom Saviano (Executive Producer of Desert Nights), and Everette Harp. Platinum Mint Condition superstar drummer Stokley Williams and guitarist David Barry. Adding legendary Grammy award-winning mixer Rob Chiarelli (All of Will Smith’s Albums and hits such as Gangsta’s Paradise) Desert Nights is a refreshing edge to smooth Jazz.
