On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the MacArthur Memorial in partnership with the Korea Defense Veterans Association will be hosting a FREE commemorative event as we approach the 75th anniversary of the historic Inchon landings during the Korean War.
Seventy-five years ago, General Douglas MacArthur, the first United Nations Command (UNC) commander, defied the odds with one of history’s boldest amphibious assaults: the Incheon Landing. Facing skepticism from planners and in his own words, daunting “5,000-to-1” odds, MacArthur’s daring gamble turned the tide of the Korean War. Always a proponent of bold action, MacArthur accepted the risks at Incheon and later noted that the people of the Republic of Korea were also “risking it all” to preserve their sovereignty and democracy.
To commemorate this pivotal moment, the MacArthur Memorial and the Korea Defense Veterans Association have partnered to present a dynamic two-part event that will examine the history of the Incheon operation and feature a moderated discussion with three former UNC commanders, to explore its Incheon’s enduring legacy and the vital role of the United Nations Command today.
