Elizabeth River Project - Ryan Resilience Lab 5205 Colley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23508 Price: Suggested minimum donation $10 per attendee

Join us for an insightful evening as we learn what researchers from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) have discovered about the current state of the Elizabeth River. We’ll hear updates on how fish populations are faring as well as pathogens of interest in the River. If you fish, hope to ever consume anything out of the Elizabeth River, or just care about how our River is doing today, don’t miss out!

Speakers:
Dr. Hamish Small: Assistant Professor at VIMS, Hamish’s research interests are mainly focused on aquatic infectious diseases and assessing the population structure of various fish species like tautog and cobia.

Dr. Corinne Audemard: Senior Research Scientist at VIMS, her interests focus on understanding the ecology of microorganisms within estuarine and marine environments, with a recent focus on human pathogens, specifically vibrios and norovirus, known for transmission through consumption of bivalve shellfish.

Registration includes one drink ticket, so come ready to sip and learn! This event is for attendees aged 21 and over. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore the science and art of wetlands while enjoying a relaxed pub atmosphere.

Arrive early at 4:45pm for an optional tour of the Ryan Resilience Lab and learn how to make your home, business, school, or community part of the solution to climate change.

Guests age 21+ are welcome – Suggested minimum donation $10 per attendee to support a healthy Elizabeth River though not required in our commitment to providing equitable access to our river-related programming.
