Step Up and Step Out for The Up Center—Now with More Ways to Move!

Join The Up Center on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Harbor Park Stadium for a powerful community event that changes lives! Step UP and conquer the stadium stairs, or Step OUT on our new scenic 2-mile walk/run along the Elizabeth River Trail in Downtown Norfolk.

This family-friendly fundraiser supports The Up Center’s Family Promise Fund for critical services for 10,000 children, families, and people with disabilities across Hampton Roads each year. Whether you’re climbing, walking, or running, every step you take makes a difference.

🚶 Elizabeth River Trail Walk/Run – Enjoy a 2-mile scenic route along the waterfront

Discover Downtown Transit w/HRT

The wheels on the bus go round and round all through Downtown, and it’s never been easier to navigate with Hampton Roads Transit. DNC members are invited to learn demystify public transportation in an informational session targeted at Downtown users. The HRT team will share options for transit, highlight important website updates, and help you feel confident getting around town. After the presentation and discussion, all participants are welcome on an optional ride-along with HRT staff on bus and light rail to experience what makes public transportation such a great resource for everyone in the community.

Noon Year’s Eve- The Virginia Zoo

Celebrate the new year without losing any sleep! 🎊 Noon Year’s Eve is a kid-friendly celebration that allows youngsters to experience all the fun of welcoming a new year while keeping bedtime in mind – including a dance party, sparkling juice “toast”, countdown, and ball drop at noon.

The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a dance party and fun photo ops. At 11:45 a.m. in the Fountain Plaza, children will receive their free sparkling juice (while supplies last), and parents can purchase their own celebratory beverage for an additional cost. Together, families can ring in the “Noon Year” while watching our mirrorball drop countdown. Guests are free to explore the Zoo after the party.

This special event is free to Zoo members and included with paid Zoo admission. Event is rain or shine.

***NOTE: For the safety of our guests and animals, no confetti poppers will be permitted.

The Zoo is a smoke-free facility; no smoking is allowed inside the Zoo. This also includes e-cigarettes and vaping. Inability to follow this rule will result in dismissal from Zoo grounds without a refund.

The holiday season just got a little more WILD at the Virginia Zoo! Join us for some wintertime festivities at our Holiday Market!

THIS EVENT IS FREE WITH YOUR GENERAL ZOO ADMISSION AND TAKES PLACE RAIN OR SHINE!



The Virginia Zoo is an outdoor venue, and events will happen rain or shine unless otherwise indicated. If any changes are made, an announcement will be issued via email to our members/ticket holders and on the Virginia Zoo’s social media channels.
