Learn a simply stitching technique to make a 3-D rain cloud, then add beads to make a decorative rain to replicate the April showers that bring May flowers. Recommended for children ages 5-10 with some chaperone assistance. All attending adults and children are required to have a registered ticket.

Price for Not-yet Members: $22/Child and $20/Adult. (Tickets for class must be purchased for both children and adults and includes daytime admission to NBG).

Recommended for ages 18-months to 3 years old with significant chaperone assistance. This is an NBG Member exclusive program that requires pre-registered (purchased) tickets.

Tails & Trails: Dog Day at the Zoo

Are you and your pup ready to have the best W-A-L-K? 🐕 🐾 Get ready to join us for our first Dog Day event of the year! 🐶 We’re inviting dog-loving zoo fans and their well-behaved canine companions to explore the Zoo together! Your dogs will be treated to sights, smells, and sounds of animals they’ve never encountered before all while playing a vital role in enriching the lives of the Zoo’s animal residents.

To ensure that this event is safe for everyone, your fur babies MUST be well-trained and vaccinated. Dogs behaving in an unruly or aggressive manner (i.e. excessive barking, growling, lunging, biting, etc.) will be required to leave without a refund.

How to Join Us:

  1. Reserve a ticket for yourself AND your dog. Each adult ticket may only reserve a spot for ONE dog.  Note: Our ticket form will not complete transactions that do not have a 1:1 ratio of adult humans to dogs. 
  2. Submit a signed waiver (this link will be provided in your ticket confirmation email).
  3. Upload your dog’s veterinary records*. Medical records must be received no later than April 12 @ 4pm.
    • Medical requirements:
      • Up-to-date vaccination for: Rabies
      • Up-to-date vaccination for: Distemper virus, Adenovirus (also called canine Hepatitis) and Parvo virus
      • Up-to-date vaccination for: Bordetella
      • Proof of negative heartworm test within the past year AND proof of purchase for heartworm preventative

Entry will not be permitted if your medical records have not been received by the Virginia Zoo, or if our veterinary staff determines that your dog’s records are insufficient.

Cherry Blossom Hunt at Norfolk Botanical Garden

Norfolk Botanical Garden invites you to enjoy our first-ever Cherry Blossom Scavenger Hunt, running daily through cherry blossom bloom season! Find all six Cherry Blossom Scavenger Hunt Trees labeled with the dark pink flower. Look under each of these trees and make note of the corresponding letter. Once you’ve completed the word, stop by our Front Desk in Baker Hall Visitor Center to receive a prize!
Physical Scavenger Hunt maps are available at our Baker Hall Visitor Center.
Please note: cherry blossom bloom season varies from year to year. Currently, varieties of our cherry blossoms are predicted to be blooming through 03/05/26, but this date is subject to change.
