Perfect for curious minds and creative spirits, participants in Myths & Legends will explore stories from cultures around the world. From clever tricksters to mysterious creatures, discover how myths and legends were used to explain the world, teach lessons, and inspire courage. Participants will build their own myths, design legendary characters, solve problems, and embark on epic quests at the Chrysler Museum and Perry Glass Studio. We cannot wait to experience the legendary myths your camper creates!
Art Stars are asked to bring lunch and snacks. All art supplies are included, along with either a Chrysler Museum T-shirt or apron. We kindly ask Art Stars to wear their T-shirt or aprons daily to help support camp camaraderie and the security of all campers. Join the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and the Chrysler Museum of Art for a dynamic two-day Summer Teacher Institute that brings contemporary visual culture to life. Dive into two inaugural exhibitions at the newly opened Virginia MOCA, Nina Chanel Abney: The Pursuit of Happiness and Seamless: Art and Design on Tuesday. On Wednesday, explore the Chrysler Museum’s permanent collection galleries and Perry Glass Studio.

It’s all the things! Layer, mix, melt, print, and paint in this dynamic weeklong artmaking camp. Discover how artists combine different materials to create their works of art while exploring the Museum’s galleries. Throughout the week, young artists will work with local printmakers, glass artists, and musicians to dig into culture, creativity, and expression. Young artists will create a portfolio of work and celebrate their artistry during Friday’s art show!
