BUBBLE FEST: The Fifth Annual Public Arts Festival at Old Dominion University

November 7 - November 8 2025

Barry Art Museum 1075 W. 43rd Street Norfolk, VA 23529 barryartmuseum@odu.edu

We are proud to present BUBBLE FEST: The Fifth Annual Public Arts Festival at Old Dominion University — a celebration of our campus’s remarkable research, creative talent, and synergistic collaboration. The festival serves as a platform for the intersection of art and science, while inviting attendees to engage with innovative projects and enjoy immersive experiences. At its heart is our belief in fostering community engagement and dialogue through the transformative power of art in public spaces.

This year’s festival will explore the intersection of art and architecture, and we are thrilled to introduce by Atelier Sisu, an immersive, light and sound environment that represents the idea of ephemerality and transience in the form of larger-than-life bubbles. Conceptualized during the Covid-19 pandemic, conveys the mixture of feelings, not only of living in a bubble, but of needing to live for each moment: in other words, recognizing the fleeting beauty of the ephemeral.

Based out of Sydney, Australia, Atelier Sisu is led by award-winning artists Renzo B. Larriviere and Zara Pasfield. They work with a multi-disciplinary team to create experiential environments, installations, and sculptures with a particular focus on public art.

As always, this festival is free and open to the public thanks to our generous sponsors and members.
