Join us on the 80th anniversary of V-J Day with a free screening of the recently released film Children of the War.
August 15, 2025 will represent the 80th anniversary of Victory Over Japan (V-J) Day, a historic moment in the events leading to the end of World War II. In honor of this landmark anniversary in history, the MacArthur Memorial in partnership with the Philippine World War II Memorial Foundation will host a free screening of the recently released film Children of the War. This documentary features interviews with seven survivors of the 1945 Battle of Manila. Children during the war, they explore the harrowing experiences that continue to haunt them 80 years later.
The MacArthur Memorial is proud to host the Tidewater Korean American Association’s annual ceremony marking the anniversary of the start of the Korean War. This event is open to the public and will include guest speakers, performances, and a wreath laying. Join us for a hands-on program on the events of WWII from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay!
Join us for a hands-on program covering the basic history of World War II in the Pacific Theater. This presentation will introduce the causes of the war with Japan, identify the major players, and examine how the role of the United States in Asia evolved as a result of this conflict.
This joint program is is presented by historians with the MacArthur Memorial and Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and is part of our education resources offered to students and educators.
This program is free and open to the public. No registration required to attend.
Now at Activity HQ! Learn about how people on the Home Front during WWII grew, ate, and preserved their own fruits and veggies from their own “Victory Gardens” to help with the war effort. Then, color, cut out, and “can and jar” your own paper produce!
