Coffee Painting Workshop

11:00 a.m
D'Art Center 740 Boush Street Norfolk, VA 23510 Price: $65
All Supplies included

Learn how to take an everyday substance and create a work of art. This class will teach you how to paint in coffee while developing values and capturing the subject. It’s a lot of fun and without a caffeine buzz.

Instructor Bio – Kelly Woodruff

“As a tenured watercolorist with over 24 years of teaching experience in the Hampton Roads area, I specialize in guiding students through a thoughtful, process-oriented approach to art. My instruction spans graphite drawing, watercolor pencil techniques, traditional watercolor painting, and unique mediums like coffee painting. My goal is always to ensure students not only create beautiful work but also fully understand and embrace the creative process behind it.

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching at institutions such as the Adult Learning Center in Virginia Beach, the d’Art Center, Outside the Lines, Jerry’s Artarama, and Tidewater Arts Outreach, in addition to offering private lessons. My teaching style emphasizes individual growth, creative confidence, and a solid foundation in technique—meeting each student where they are on their artistic journey.”

Ghostly Ghouls Workshop

September 13 2025

11:00 a.m
D'Art Center 740 Boush Street Norfolk, VA 23510 Price: $50

Enjoy a creative afternoon with Instructor Carley Harris while you create your own spooky (or cute!) ceramic ghosts!

Using slabs of rolled out clay, you’ll drape and form your own ghost shapes with hands-on guidance provided by Carley as needed. Ideally you would create one slightly larger ghost and then a smaller ghost. Once they’ve been bisque fired, they will be glazed and then kiln fired for a glossy finish.

All supplies are provided, here’s what you get:

• a 2-hr experience forming and shaping your set of ghosts out of white stoneware clay.

• your set of ghosts will be bisque-fired, no need for you to do anything here!

• once bisque firing is complete, Carley will glaze and kiln fire it so they have a glossy finish.

• You’ll receive an email letting you know when you may return to pick up your completed ghosts, just in time for decorating for Halloween!

Ages 18+
