One critic says that James McMurtry writes as though he has spent time eavesdropping on conversations in every Dairy Queen in America. Stephen King, who owns a classic-rock station in Maine, has written that he “may be the truest, fiercest songwriter of his generation.”

Longtime critic Robert Christgau declared McMurtry’s “We Can’t Make It Here” the best song of the 2000s.

He will be touring behind his first album in four years, “The Black Dog and the Wandering Boy.” The 10-song collection was co-produced by McMurtry & Don Dixon (R.E.M., The Smithereens).

Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh, Melissa Carper

When Kelly Willis, Melissa Carper, and Brennen Leigh – accomplished singer-songwriters who have forged unique lanes in country music – joined forces as a power trio, there was no more appropriate labeling themselves than Wonder Women of Country.

Willis scored country hits with her solo albums after signing to MCA Records. Leigh has cultivated a following resurrecting honky tonk that attracted collaborators like Asleep at the Wheel and fans in Rodney Crowell and Guy Clark. Carper, raised on Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, “sounds like a voice from a bygone era . . . evoking the cool, smoky croon of a lounge singer,” according to Rolling Stone.

“A delightful country buffet, Willis, Carper, Leigh pulls on the superpowers of three of the genre’s ever-dwindling purists,” wrote the Austin Chronicle about their debut EP.

Now, they’re together, merging their superpowers.

Join us on the 1st Saturday of every month for a class on the Neptune’s Fury lawn in downtown NFK. Please RSVP so we can update you on weather changes and more! Parking info :: Just drive in to the garage through the entrance; the gate will lift once the system has scanned your license plate. Once inside Neptune’s Fury, there is a QR code that will add a discount for that park. Be sure you know your license plate and add it to the website after the discount is applied. Then just drive out of the garage when leaving; the gate will read your license plate and open. Cancelation Policy :: We are able to honor a full refund with 48 hours notice.
