Norfolk, VA Nightlife

The nightlife destination for those in the know – which now includes you.

You want nightlife with a distinctive urban edge? Downtown Norfolk and its surrounding neighborhoods offer breweries with tasting rooms, beer bars, lounges, chef-owned restaurants and nightclubs galore. From live music venues to low-key late-night hangouts, Norfolk delivers whatever you and your friends are in the mood for.

Party at Scotty Quixx and Baxter’s or see your favorite band at the NorVA. For a more low-key experience, try The Barrel Room or Gershwin’s, a 20’s style piano bar. Stroll along the waterfront and there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself in the middle of a festival of food and music, like Harborfest®, Bayou Boogaloo, the Latino Music Festival, Jazz Festival, Beer Festival or bi-annual Wine Festival.

There’s always something shakin’ in this hidden hipster haven. There’s local live music playing almost every weekend at Belmont House of Smoke, 80/20 Burger Bar or the Taphouse Grill. Virginia’s first urban winery, Mermaid Winery, and O’Connor Brewing Company both serve up a one-of-a-kind experience, along with brews, vino and bubbly. Supper Southern Morsels offers rooftop tapas and craft cocktails. Others not to miss are Luna Maya, Press 626 Café & Wine Bar, Bardo and Cogans.

Part of Chelsea’s charm is that spots are a little undercover and part speakeasy. For some tasty tacos and drinks to get the party started, check out Tortilla West. Afterwards grab a specialty brew at Smartmouth Brewing Company or the award-winning Birch Bar. End the night sipping a cold one around an outdoor fire pit at the newly opened Torch Bistro. Other Chelsea favorites are The Bakehouse and Orapax.
