Norfolk celebrates the rich ethnic diversity of its population with sights, sounds, attractions and special events that pay tribute to the city's long multicultural heritage.
There are a variety of festivals that take place each summer season in Town Point Park on Norfolk’s waterfront. Visitors can watch salsa, merengue, and guaguanco dancers and hear live music by local, regional, and national Latin recording artists at the annual Latino Music Festival. The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival commemorates one of the most celebrated of Chinese holidays, and the Bayou Boogaloo celebrates Cajun delicacies with cooking demos, children’s activities and live music.
Let’s not forget the Virginia International Tattoo where seven hundred artists from across the globe gather in Norfolk to form an exhibition of marching bands, massed pipes and drums, drill teams, gymnasts, choirs and more; this is the largest show of its kind in the United States! Norfolk NATO Festival coincides with the Virginia International Tattoo, and is a week-long celebration honoring the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, including a Parade of Nations and NATO Fest in downtown Norfolk. Now home to the largest annual LGBT festival in Southeastern Virginia, Norfolk is proud to host Hampton Roads Pride Festival which takes place in Town Point Park.
